About Junebug Unique Boutique
Why the name Junebug?
The name 'Junebug' is a tribute to the incredible women who have shaped owner Lisa Kneifl's life. Her grandmother, Lillian June Buseck Davidson Strait (lovingly referred to as June), was born in 1916, and Lisa was born on her 50th birthday as her first grandchild—it felt like fate from the very beginning.
Lisa's daughter, Hallie, the youngest in the family, was affectionately called "Bug" by her siblings (for always bugging them). She was born just before Lisa turned 40, marking another milestone linked to these inspiring women. Together, they’ve instilled in Lisa courage, creativity, and a willingness to take risks.
The connection between "June" and "Bug" perfectly illustrates the bond Lisa shares with her family. Adding to that is the support from her amazing mother, Wanda—whose love for stylish "junking," flea market finds, and antiques has greatly influenced this venture—making Junebug a fitting blend of legacy, love, and creativity. (Sorry, Mom, but naming this place "Wanda’s" just didn’t have quite the same ring!)
Junebug celebrates family, creativity, and the joy of discovering beauty in unique places. From her mother’s passion for treasure hunting to crafting a space where history, art, and community converge, everything Junebug offers reflects the passions and values passed down to Lisa.
Whether it's showcasing artisanal products, sharing delicious food, or welcoming clients into a space rich with history (fun fact—it’s a 100+ year-old former Carnegie Library that has housed many different things over the years), Junebug is about connection, elegance, and creativity.
We want the name to stick in your mind—it's short, sweet, and memorable. But more importantly, we hope the story behind 'Junebug' adds meaning to your experience with us. Everyone loves a great name with a heartfelt origin, and we’re thrilled to share that story with all of you.
What about her mother Wanda? Why isn’t the boutique named after her?
Oh, Wanda. Her mother is undoubtedly a significant influence on everything Junebug represents—without her, this place would never exist! She’s inspired Lisa's creativity, fueled a love of vintage treasures, and fully supported all her adventures. However, as much as we appreciate her name, along with her fabulous cooking and crafting skills, “Wanda’s” just didn’t possess the boutique charm we were aiming for. Rest assured, though—her spirit is visible everywhere in Junebug, from the handpicked finds to the cozy, inviting atmosphere. Cheers to Wanda! 🍸Honestly, she’d probably prefer cocktails over mocktails... but we’ll save that part of the adventure for later.
Owner Lisa's creativity extends beyond Junebug. She’s also the visionary behind Twist of Pine, a luxury lodge on Lewis and Clark Lake known for its bespoke events. The extra special touches that make Twist of Pine events unforgettable—whether it’s fine dining, thoughtful design, or memorable experiences—have been seamlessly extended to Junebug. From the curated selections in the boutique to the historical charm of the space, Junebug embodies Lisa’s passion for meaningful, hands-on details.
