Meet the Staff at the Junebug Art Cafe

Lisa Kneifl - Owner & Creative Director of the Junebug Art Cafe

Lisa Kneifl is the creative force behind Junebug Art Café, as well as a vibrant family of businesses including Twist of Pine, Twisted Trays, The Pinecone, and Leather & Spruce. At 59, she’s a proud mom of seven, grandma to four, and dog-mom to two beloved pups. Lisa doesn’t call herself an artist—but she’s a lifelong maker who never stops crafting, decorating, hosting, and dreaming up new ways to bring people together through creativity and beauty.

She and her husband, Kelly, own the historic 1908 Carnegie Library that Junebug calls home, and together they’re restoring it to its former glory, with big plans for what’s to come. While Lisa isn’t always on site, she’s often at Junebug dreaming up new workshops, helping guests feel at home, or adding her signature whimsical touch to every event. Whether she’s designing a grazing table for a wedding, setting the scene for a cozy art night, or planning her next renovation project, Lisa brings energy, warmth, and personality to everything she touches.

Melissa is Junebug’s wildly talented Artist in Residence—a professional painter with a passion for helping others discover their creative spark. Known for her funky, one-of-a-kind fashion sense and bold personality, Melissa brings both edge and humor to the art room. Her approach to formal art is anything but traditional; she encourages exploration, expression, and getting a little messy along the way. With a sharp eye for color, a sarcastic wit, and a deep love for teaching, she helps shape the Junebug experience from the inside out. Whether she’s co-creating classes with Lisa, painting in the studio, or offering hands-on help to guests of all skill levels, Melissa makes art feel accessible, fun, and totally personal. She's not just a teacher—she's a creative sparkplug who makes sure that no two days (or projects) at Junebug are ever the same.

Pam is the go-to gal for all things trendy, clever, and perfectly put-together. A creative soul with an organized streak, she’s always up on the latest fashion finds and must-try craft ideas—and she brings that stylish energy to everything she touches at Junebug. Recently retired from her full-time career, Pam now enjoys the best of both worlds: working part-time with our team and keeping her schedule flexible for travel, relaxation, and spontaneous fun. Lisa met Pam through the Yankton Housewives group at Twist of Pine, and their shared love of creativity quickly turned into a great friendship and collaboration. Whether she’s helping plan a workshop, curating craft supplies, or just making everyone laugh, Pam brings sparkle, savvy, and a whole lot of heart to the Junebug crew.

Jane is the heart and humor of Junebug—equal parts cheerleader, helper, and life of the party. She’s been friends with Lisa for over 18 years, ever since Lisa’s daughter Hallie (now a design student at SCAD) was in Jane’s daycare. Though Jane insists she’s “not creative,” no one believes her—not the kids who adore her, not the bridesmaids she’s laughing with, and definitely not the Junebug team. Since retiring from daycare, Jane has jumped into Lisa’s creative world with both feet, helping with events, workshops, and everything in between. She brings infectious energy, a can-do attitude, and a sense of fun to every group she works with. Whether she’s leading a kids’ craft, pouring drinks at a girls’ night, or just jumping in wherever needed, Jane makes Junebug feel like a party you never want to leave. You’ll love her—we all do!
